New Lanark, a town-and-cotton-mill just south of Glasgow, Scotland, was built from scratch in 1786 during the first industrial revolution. Not only did they use new technology to power the cotton mill, they laid the foundation of urban planning and organised the first child care. They showed how businesses profit by focussing on well-being and growth for all stakeholders.
